Actual conversation... ^_^

Seriously though, folks, it's a fantastic movie. Even Dom agree's with me! And he never even saw the series!

I'm gonna see it again, just as soon as a weekend appears where I don't have to be in a different city...

[^e^] - 11:36 AM PDT

In related news!

I'm hoping to catch Mirrormask sometime in the next few weeks.

Also, I don't want Honey and Clover to end! I haven't enjoyed an anime like that in a loooooooooooong time.
At least Paradise Kiss and Aria start up very soon.

It's going to be a great season!

[^Natsuki^] - 11:56 AM PDT

And though this conversation did happen, I do indeed listen to E-chan. I just used her character to represent the hordes of mindless Whedon-fanboys who try to convince me that something is cool through mob mentality.

I'll watch things when I watch them. I don't have time right now to do much besides work on costumes =}

[^Young^] - 3:51 PM PDT

Hey Young! Let's go see it in... err... one, maybe two... months?! I think the price might drop by then. :3

Actually, since I'm pretty starved on space sci-fi (which I still have a feeling this won't satisfy) I was thinking about seeing it. But everytime I see some hype mentioned on the internet, I think "maybe give it a few more days or week or so." ^_~

I mean, who wants to slip and bruise around a butter-and-coke'd floor for this? :3

(Dom? *rolls eyes* *mmphf!*)

[^A-sama^] - 8:01 PM PDT

Right now, I need nothing but sweetsweet Densha Otoko. Ep. 2 had me sniffling! Aaaaaaah~~~ it's soo good...but very painful at the same time because you really feel for the poor guy.

I also renewed my vows to YKK last night.

And realized just how sad I am that there probably won't be anymore English Aria manga for a long time.

Ok! Good night!~

SEan! Which?!
Nintendo DS?
PSP?
Xpillcase PI/2 Radians?

You know, it would be just like Microsoft to design a relatively interesting handheld that almost no one would actually be able to use. =P
Seriously, how would you even reach those inner control pads with your thumbs?

Phantom handhelds aside, DS is current winnah and champeen! Mainly since there are a number of good DS games I own and like (4 + lots of GBA games) with more on the way and I currently own 2 psp games (only 1 of which I actually play) and there are only about 2 or 3 games with unknown release dates coming that spark my interest. Though one of them is a new Ghoul's and Ghosts... which will hopefully be five and a half kinds of awesome.

In the meantime I'll wait for some full speed SNES emulation and other random hacks to keep a minimum of interest in the shiny, shiny, more-fingerprint-prone-than-an-ipod PSP.

[^SEan^] - 10:17 AM PDT

What's the ep count on Honey and Clover, anyway?

[^SEan^] - 10:19 AM PDT

26 eps!

I just finished 22 & 23 the other night. HOLEE CRAP, just awesome. I love how it's all about all these different relationships between people, and it's so realistic. No amped up drama or contrived angst.
How far have you watched? Half-way in we get introduced to a small set of secondary characters that are marvelous catalysts for the whole Mayama/Yamada storyline.

[^Natsuki^] - 11:23 AM PDT

Yeah, I'm a member of the Whedon hordes. But for damn good reason. Firefly is just a good show, and I really think it'd satisfy your craving, A-sama! It's mostly spaced based, plenty of stories revolves around the "black" as they call it. It's just also a western a little bit too. I keep telling people if you liked Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and Outlaw Star, you'll love Firefly and Serenity.

That, and I consider the movie a work of love for those people, and they at least deserve our consideration. Good sci-fi with good storylines is hard to find, and I'm not talking about those things NBC and them are putting out now. I'm talking honest to god, We're-in-space-and-we-could-die-in-a-horrible-vacuum sci-fi. Please, for me, give it a shot, and I promise, if you hate it, I'll deliver a personal apology.

Please? Just watch an episode? It's well and truly worth it.

The Firefly/Serenity series/movie is good. I recommend it. Two non-gangrenous thumbs up! My own thumbs even! With anti-bacterial! (Yes, it's good.)

Honey and Clover: I've only watched the first episode, but I liked it enough that I'm downloading everything as it's released. I'll start watching soon/when I get the urge/when I get the rest of it/when I have more time/when I'm unemployed/when the sun is about to explode/right before the zombies eat my brain and use my liver for chewing gum/when I start tantric-presbyterian yoga/when I get to it. You know... one of those.

[^SEan^] - 12:41 AM PDT

LOL, well, I know A-sama and I plan to see the movie... it's just a matter of priority in accordance to other things. I've always thought I'd like it... but recently, I've had other things that have to take precedence... like cosplay! =}

So Sean, does that mean tomorrow? =}

[^Young^] - 8:22 AM PDT

Could be, could be.

[^SEan^] - 10:20 AM PDT

Square has announced that Final Fantasy IV, V and VI will all be coming to the GBA (IV will be out Dec 12th in the US by the way). I've been waiting for this since they announced Dawn of Souls (FFI and II), heck, almost since they announced the GBA. Who knows if I'll ever get around to playing them, but it'll be good to have portable old school rpg goodness. Thats not emulated. *Glances at PSP*.

Apparently they also announced FFIII for the DS... no idea what they plan on doing there. Speculation is redone in 3D.

[^SEan^] - 10:47 AM PDT

Man, square is almost as bad as Gainax when it comes to re-releases now.

"Hey, we need more money. We could... make something new... or... rerelease something for more money! W00t!"

[^Young^] - 12:12 PM PDT

To be fair, they do have SOME new stuff... Radiata Stories, Minstrels Song, KHII, FFXII, Dragon Quest VIII, Front Mission V. But they're probably still trying to recover from the FF movie. So re-releases ahoy! Cash in on the fair ship Nostalgia! Arr!

[^SEan^] - 12:51 PM PDT

Yeah, it just took them forever to get it out. I guess the dry spell was all development time... they had the past 5 or 6 years with a sparse population of games compared to what they've done in the past (I seem to remember when Square pumped games out yearly, almost like cars.. FF7, Parasite Eve, FF8, Parasite Eve 2, FF9)

I guess the rereleases were to fill the empty gap in their development cycle. =}

[^Young^] - 2:54 PM PDT

SEan, thanks! I think I'll go out and buy a NDS--based only on your recommendation! XD Actually, I was contemplating it for a little bit, but wanted to see what you said since you have all 3...err 2... and other stuff.

"Seriously, how would you even reach those inner control pads with your thumbs?"

With your Big American Hands (TM), of course! =D Sorry! I didn't mean to deceive you. That article talks about a bogus product, if you haven't figured that out already.

My priority has been games on my new computer. I want to see the movie, but I think I'll pass on the TV series. I saw 2 episodes. Too much dusty hokey western stuff (including the music, gawd), not enough geeky technology. I never was all that jazzed about Cowboy Bebop nor Outlaw Star. I prefer Stellvia and Starship Operators. (Those happen to be similar to Star Trek and B5.)

Oh yeah, and one more time for the record: Science Fiction does NOT equal Horror! Hollywood likes to combine them all the time--which I think blows--but they are not one and the same.

[^A-sama^] - 3:54 PM PDT

More rantage!

Yeah, knew it was fake (thus the phantom handheld comment). I just thought it'd be funny for MS to design something like the original xbox controller... again.

DS games I can reccomend (and own):
Meteos - puzzle game, between Lumines (the only game on psp I play) and this I'm offically a Mizuguchi fan.
Advance Wars Dual Strike - only tried a bit of this but loved the original and this looks expanded and better. Turn based strategy
Kirby Canvas Curse - this is sort of a platformer but very, very DS specific with the touch screen control.

I'll be picking up Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow soon and there's more stuff in the pipe. Not to mention bucketloads of GBA games. Pretty hard to NOT find something to play.

So FFVI for GBA is on my list now... but I'm still waiting for Secret of Mana!!! I loved that game, I still love that game, and if I could play it handheld, I'd be a little puddle of happily bubbling goo.

I've been debating asking for this for Christmas, but an SP would be alright too. Any opinions on the Micro?
