It's true, I have a girlfriend. Shortest rant ever. Vote Libertarian this year. Yeah, I'm pretty sure Bush is going to win, but here's why you should vote Libertarian: If you earn $20,000 a year you're paying $5,000 in taxes, before deductions and stuff. That's a used car. It's 3 Macintosh computers. It's 5 month's rent in the bay area. It's a year's rent here in Reno. It's the yearly payment of a Mini Cooper S, fully loaded, on a five year loan. And if you vote Democrat or Republican, you'll be paying 25% or more of your income to the government for your whole life. Vote Libertarian; it's like an automatic pay raise*. *Of course they won't win, but it's the thought that counts. If everyone thought, "Hey, I would like 10% more money," then of course the Libertarian party would win and then they would start going downhill, like the Democrats and Republicans have. The reason why I support them is because I have nearly 20 more presidential terms in my life. If I act now, maybe by the time I'm 40 I'll be able to keep more of my paycheck. And maybe you can too. I know it's crazy. So is the idea of, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

I was thinking about it and it was a bit tempting. I could've drove down to San Diego after work on Friday and get there on Saturday morning and chill for a bit and then drive back up Saturday evening but if I only didn't have work on Sunday in the morning. Beside, I don't think my folks would have liked it if I did that. Feh. So I decided to get a video card finally. I did wanted one of those ATI X800s or nVidia 6800s but hell if I'm gonna spend $500 for a freakin' card. So I just got a reasonable one for a hundred bucks. Figure I'm sure as hell never gonna keep up with technology. I think I'll wait three more years until I upgrade my mother board and processor. What sucks is that my card has been shipped by Fed Ex and they don't send to P.O. boxes. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a P.O. box. But at least Amazon lets me send stuff to my P.O. box. I hope Hobby Link Japan also accepts P.O. box addresses. So rather than say what card I bought I'm just gonna keep that to myself cause I know some dude is gonna e-mail me and say, "Why did you get that card? You could've got a blah blah blah cause nVidia/ATI sucks blah blah blah...." Young was right. I, Robot was kewl. I still think they look like crash test dummies. Shoot, I'd post a drawing here or in the forums but workhorse is down still. Time to find web hosting.

July 26, 2004 - Monday

Now I know why I don't like shopping online. The shipping thing is a pain in the ass. I got a P.O. Box hoping to make things easier but then UPS and Fed Ex do not ship to P.O. Boxes so that defeats everything. And most of the places I shopped at ship by UPS or Fed Ex. I only had success with Amazon which can ship to P.O. Boxes. Thank you so much Amazon. I guess it's because of terrorists that UPS and Fed Ex can't ship to P.O. Boxes. This morning I waited for my graphics card. I had the garage door opened and was help my father move stuff around. I saw the Fed Ex truck. I was so happy. He went next door. I thought he might be delivering two packages in my court. So I waited. Few minutes later he goes back into his truck and drives off. I just stand there looking stupid and sad and a bit ticked off. I figure maybe they have multiple trucks. After an hour I go online to track my package. It tells me delivery attempt was failed. Shit. So I call Fed Ex and I tell them to hold the package so I can pick it up. I hope I can pick it up after 6:00PM. If not tomorrow. I got my card at NewEgg.com. Don't worry, it's not your fault NewEgg.com. Pretty kewl place to shop for online computer stuff. I just wish they could ship to P.O. Boxes. I might as well just cancel my P.O. Box. Maybe I should ship stuff to work from now on. I'm sure they wont mind. Just as long it's not pr0n. Other than that....HOO YEAH! Two days off in a row!

Aw fuck. Yay, got my card finally. Boo, my system doesn't respond well to it. So I popped it in and installed the drivers and rebooted and I got this nice black screen that locked my system. That or I rebooted and got a nice loading up screen that locked up or a black screen with this nice bit line on the left that changed colors. So then I went into safe mode and tried to change the refresh rate to 60Hz but then got all these weird artifacts and I couldn't even change the refresh rate because there was no option to choose 60Hz. I'm back usin' my GeForce 2 MX with the bitty fuzzies. I believe my AGP port on my current motherboard is out of date. It's 4X though the card says it's 4X and 8X I believe my AGP port is not 2.0. Thus, new motherboard. So much for trying to keep my current board for a few more years. Only had it for a couple of years. Dang. It's an A7N266-VM and has that nifty nForce chipset. At least I can swap the CPU and RAM if I get a new mobo. I'm thinking about getting a Abit AN7 or a MSI K7N2 Delta-ISLR. Do I have the money. Yes and no. Yeah, cause I could easily just get a new mobo cause I still have much in my savings. No cause I kinda wanna keep my balance at a certain level. Am I gonna hold off? Probably not. I hardly buy shit anyways unless it's food and stuff. Man, this blows. I thought I would have this up and running today but I guess I'll have to wait a bit more. Gonna hit some shops tomorrow or maybe just Fry's. Maybe I should ask them about my situation and see what interesting answers I get, or for that matter, interesting answers I wont get. Heh, you know what? For the longest time I thought the word "wont" was spelled "won't." I've been spelling it as "won't" with that silly apostrophe. Perhaps I should pay attention more to Bob the Angry Flower.
