Today is different. Young is flying to Ushicon and I'm actually sick with a cold. Thanks to Matt Hall and JJ Chien for today's filler!
Thank you. Now for today's entertainment.
I woke up. Not the gradual rise out of fluffy layers of cottony sleep, but the violent shock of instant consciousness. I was asleep, dreaming, lost in the worlds of the subconscious, and then I was awake.
My body was stiff, a little cold. I sat up-the room was still dark, only the faintest hint of the morning sun peeking over the horizon, a grey steel sky with only the smallest tint of blue. Today was going to be brilliant, cold, dry, and bright. I rolled out of bed quietly, opening my senses to my surroundings. What had disturbed my slumber?
I trusted my body. It was my greatest resource, and it had told me to wake up. My feet and legs were cold; the blood had not sufficiently warmed them, yet. My eyes and mouth were a little dry, and the muscles across my back were tight. I took a deep breath and felt all the muscles and bones in my chest creak and stretch.
I padded quietly through the house. Some noise, some event had registered in my slumber. There was something... interesting. I checked in on Tucker. He was still sound asleep and I quietly relocked his door. The stuffies had not moved during the night, but I greeted them silently. I approached the kitchen. Something was different!
I peered through the doorway and let my eyes adjust. It was dim and cold, colder than the rest of the house. I scanned the room carefully. Aha! There it was!
Krispy Kreme! The Donut Ninjas had struck, and left behind their signature calling card. I would have to thank them, later, in person. I proceeded to remove the evidence of their incursion before Tucker awoke, and could get upset.
