February 13, 2004 - Friday

Happy Friday the 13th! I hope everyone has a productive and lucky day! Don't worry about me in my aloneness... I'm fine all by myself alone in the house by my lonesome self... all... alone... in my aloneness with nothing to protect me from the harsh evil outside waiting to kill me except for Binkys, Merles, and my bat... alone... *whimper* *hides in the closet with a bat and a Binky waiting for the monkeys to come eat his brain* Hey, why is Friday the 13th supposely so unlucky? It's like... as rare as Sunday the 1st... and no one ever makes a big whoopda about that.

Don't worry Young! I instructed my girls to protect you! Nothing says "don't mess with my man" like a legion of little scary dolls with their eyes set on pink! (Blythe reference...I should provide photographic proof that Blythes with their pink eyes set are not to be trifled with!) I think Friday the 13th is lucky! After all, my mom was born on one...and she's one of the nicest people ever! *waves at the binkies*

I actually found out why Friday the 13th is unlucky! It was in the book I just finished, Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown. He's the guy that wrote The DaVinci Code, and Angels and Demons is the first in the series. Anyway, I don't recall totally clearly, but it was on a Friday the 13th when the church basically surprise attacked a bunch of Templar Knights and killed a bunch of them, and supposedly since then it's been considered unlucky. But this is kinda interesting, and throws that for a loop a bit, so pick and choose how you want to define why it's a bad day. ^^ It's not that bad a day for my family, though. Today is my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday Mom! ^^

I think you have it backwards. Pretty sure Friday the 13th was explained in "The Da Vinci Code" not in "Angels and Demons".
