About TV. Why is it that a lot of shows are doing the whole "Oh NO! These two perfect people in a sitcom can't have CHILDREN! It's such a tragedy that we have to have it on multiple sitcoms." It seems to be the 'exciting' season premiere grabbers for Friends and Frasier. They can't have children so lets see what funny gags we can come up with to display infertility. Whee.

Oh well, at least they aren't making fun of the Vietnam War. Then we'd have to listen to Dom's rantings some more ^_^

Yay! Saturday off! But then I got to to stuff with father in the yard. Darn. But I'll have the other half of the day free. I was gonna go check out that new library in Downtown. I passed by it a few times and it looks pretty tight. I probably still could if I had enough time after helping father out. Heh, my days off are my parents days off.

Man, there are some scary exploits out there. These are based on the recently announced, patched, and then rediscovered variants of the Microsoft RPC hole... So be wary of IE and Windows, because there are still exploits that Microsoft still haven't discovered or patched, if these first three are any indication.

In a more positive note, I was shown this, which is hypnotic and strangely appealing. Share the love!

Ahem... There are undoubtedly undiscovered exploits in other operating systems as well. Microsoft is just a little more... widespread than the other systems so they have more exposure and are subject to more scrutiny (though this is a good argument toward diversification in computing, but that's another rant).

[^SEan^] - 12:23 AM PDT

Agreed, it doesn't mean there aren't exploits on other systems; only that there are different, and thus require different means, to exploit them.

At least until someone figures out how to create a Java based virus that contains multiple payloads according to operating environment!

Myself, I've been considering the argument for diversity... for a while I've been thinking of becoming a Mac only household... but I suspect it might be wiser to have a mix of Mac, Windows, and Linux (what I have now) so that if any Mac exploits are discovered, I still have functional machines, and if my Windows machines do get taken down, well, I still have Mac and Linux. If Linux gets taken down, then I've got contingencies as well.

Hoo yeah! I found $13.00 in my pants!

Hmm, Magnatunes is cool, and I think I like Ehren Stark, a pianist.

They're a record label that claims not to be evil... half the proceeds go to the artist, you can try before you buy, pay what you feel, though this is a recommended $8 for the album, which isn't bad all things considered...

Wai!~ Uchuu no Stellvia's done! Wonderful series as I haven't found a series recently that coincided with my interests this much. Thanks XEBEC! Thanks Rice-Box! (I'm glad this ended up buried in all the rants for this strip. ^_~)
