May 16, 2002 - Thursday

Today's my birthday! OK, so that comic is neither funny nor interesting. But it's filler and darnit, I'm gonna fill space.

I had more to say.. stuff about a web shop and professional hosting somewhere.. and something about a large format laser printer.. but I'll talk about that later today, I'm sure. It's 1:30. You expect me to rant?

Yes. ^^

Happy Birthday! ^^

Waai~~ So much cute! Thankies A-samaaa~~ I wandered into my cube today and found.. not one.. but two new Binkies sitting on my cube to greet me! Each armed with an X/1999 anime CD =} Yaay~ And yesterday, W4 gave me... another GIR! Bwahahah! My legions of cute are growing!

*attempts to regain composure*

Yaay~

Sorry, lemme try again..

Anyway, the last day or so, my DSL has been acting up again.. more reason to ponder getting real web hosting somewhere. For 20 GB of transfer, it would cost me about 25 dollars a month.. right now, I get about 9 GB of traffic a month from daily visitors, and that doesn't include people going to my archives!

So, I've been considering setting up a web shop to sell my prints.. prints of all the art/fan art I've done. I'd prolly keep the same, or similar prices to what I do at cons.. 2-3 dollars for a 8.5x11 print and about 5 dollars for 11x17 print. I'd have to figure out how to do shipping since I dunno how much shipping certain objects of certain weight costs. It's a logistical thing.. I have lots to figure out.

But! I was curious what people would think. If I sold my prints, the ones available at my gallery for about 5 dollars each.. would people buy them? Drop me a line and let me know. =^.^=

So another thing that was on my mind.. I've already spent nearly 1600 on purchasing prints to sell at Fanime. I've already made back all my costs.. but in surplus, I prolly have about 3/4 of my stock left to sell, which is why I was thinking of opening a web shop. But, considering how much I've spent on out sourced print shop prints, I discovered for 2000 dollars, I could _buy_ my own WIDE FORMAT COLOR LASER PRINTER.

Lemme say that again for effect.

WIDE
FORMAT
COLOR
LASER
PRINTER

Mmmm.. feel the love.

Problem is.. upkeep. ONE color cartridge costs 221 dollars. ONE. There are 4. Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Black.

Not to mention paper.

It comes with it's own initial set of cartridges, of course, but I dunno how many pages it can print before running out of toner.. if it can deliver about 2000 or more prints before having to get new cartridges, I can easily make my money back. Ah well, stuff to research still =}

[^Young^] - 10:31 AM PDT

Holy fooking mother of GOD.

I did a quick look up on the printer's output.

It estimates.. 14000 b/w prints per black cartridge, 8500 prints color.

I was hoping for anything above 2000.

But wow.... 8500.

That printer is getting more and more tempting...
