February 20, 2007 - Tuesday

Sorry for the lack of... well... anything lately! Here's my news update for the new year: I got a house! Pictured above. I closed last Thursday, Feb 15th but the old owner hasn't moved out yet so she's doing a lease back until March 1st. There are more pictures of the house here. The new house is 1500 square feet plus an additional approx. 20x20 foot storage shed in the back with 3 rooms, interal heating and AC plus insulation. Basically, a tiny house in the back that doubles as a storage room. The property also has a well on it, so I plan to build a little wishing well over it ^_^ I've made mighty progress on my game's codebase. I got 3d skeletal models with per-pixel alpha channel texturemapping implemented and my first test model rendered. I'm still hammering out the story and designs for my game since someone helpfully pointed out that those would probably help define the game better than an engine. ^_^ We adopted a new kitty... or more accurately, he adopted us. He's a cross-eyed siamese kitty who we've named either Big Kitty or Happy Kitty. 'cause he's big and happy. Bronaugh doesn't exactly like him but he doesn't exactly hate him. He's mostly an outdoor cat though so we let him in on weekends and when we get home from work. That's it for now. More later, perhaps!

February 27, 2007 - Tuesday

I'm back, and I'm alive. I got stuck in Reno Sunday night, due to massive amounts of snow on Donner Summit/pass. Thanks to the graciousness of Louis, I had a place to stay for an extra night, and gave it another go yesterday. It took me 10 hours to get home..., and for those of you unfamiliar with the drive between the Bay Area and Reno, the trip usually takes about 4 1/2 hours normally. I was in the mountains for 6 hours, with chains, in some of the worst snow/ice I've ever experienced. Several times everything whited out, so that I had to stop in the middle of the road because I couldn't see the car that I knew was 10 feet in front of me. I'd like to avoid doing that again for awhile. At least, by myself. Talk about going a little bit crazy... O_o

March 16, 2007 - Friday

To those whom it may concern, I have an offer for a job that I will be accepting as soon as I can talk to my soon to be manager. It is at a tester company called LTX which is the same thing my old company, Teradyne did. I will be working for my old manager from Teradyne. This will be somewhat odd for the above reasons and several more which you can ask me about when you see me in person.
