New security rant! Go Microsoft!
IE has a huge hole. Read about it here and click this link to see if you're vunlerable. If you are vulnerable, Windows Help and a game of Minesweeper should start.
This issue has been verified on IE 5.5 and 6.0 SP1 on Windows 98 and XP SP1, but is likely to affect all versions of IE 5.5 and 6.0, though Windows 95 and IE 5.0 has not been found to be vulnerable to this specific exploit, it does not mean that Windows 95 and IE might not be vulnerable to the same problem; it just hasn't been comfirmed yet.
There are no know fixes other than not using Windows with IE integrated. Barring that, avoiding use of the IE html engine may help. Instead of IE use Mozilla, and instead of Outlook use Eudora. Alternatively you can turn off scripting and not visit sites that use scripting, in IE, and not click on links within Outlook.
Mozilla v1.1 is stable, though I use 1.2b and 1.3a regularly, both of which are in active development. Eudora is at version 5.2 stable.
