| For Sagara Sousuke-san . . . |
I don't want to be a bastard, but . . . 5.7mm does describe bullet width; however, 28mm does refer to case length, not bullet length. 12.7mm bullets are nearly 30mm long, for example. Likewise, if the bullet were actually 28mm long, it would make it a little over half the length of a .223 Rem. case. At least, that's what my cartridge book tells me (Cartridges of the World 9th Ed., published by Krause Publishing Company). If bullet length were measured by the second number, it would change depending on the bullet used (7.62x54R could become 7.62X51R, comparing spitzer bullets to roundnose or semi-wadcutter bullets.)
Gomen na . . . I didn't know any other way to reach you, Sousuke-san. I hope this reaches you! Thank you for explaining bullet energy, though . . . books always muddle it up.

You're not a bastard. Worse, you're right (see the author's commentary on the European vs. American naming systems), so I not only had to field-strip and clean every weapon our SRT has for such a "damn fool rookie mistake, even if you're supposed to be acting like a regular high-school kid"...Sgt.Maj. Mao also had me buy her and Sgt. Weber dinner.
That's what I get for answering a question after staying up late studying for a literature exam and making sure Kan...our objective made it through the night safely. I guess I was always better at terminal ballistics than memorizing nomenclature.

Ack . . . sorry, Sousuke-san. Nomenclature fascinates me (being a com major, words are easier to work with than numbers). Field-stripping is fun . . . but I'd imagine your--organization--has a great many weapons, so you have my pity. At least . . . the objective is safe.
The ballistics of the 5.7x28mm are amazing though, aren't they? FN should be pleased with their product; by all accounts, it does what it's supposed to. Maybe you should toss that sub-compact Glock for a Five-seveN, eh? Personally, I'm a fan of my grandfather's old Smith&Wesson Model 64--though someday, I'd like to get a CZ-75 . . .
Do you have a preference of weapon, Sousuke-san?

Oh yeah--thanks for the Web site! Great find! This site here might be helpful to others too! Plenty of good information on various firearms, even if the English is a little, shall we say, "accented."

My preference of weapon?
If you are talking generally, what am I most effective with, the answer seems to clearly be the ARX-7 Arbalest issued to me by Mithril.
If you want to know what weapon I am most comfortable with...that's a harder one to answer. I've done enough...um...field work to not be particularly...attached to any one particular weapon. You have to use what is available and learn to be competent with it. I suppose I could point to the Kalashnikov as a gun I more or less "grew up" with, so in as much as that, I'm very familiar with its strengths and flaws.
