BossXan Drawing problem! My friend is an incredible artist, and I've always wanted to be able to draw like her. So, I got How To Draw Manga and listened to her advice, and now she says I draw better than her, when I know for a fact that her work is better, and always has been. But now whenever I show my stuff to her, she gets jealous and upset. But, I want to talk about the art with her, and no matter how hard I try, she won't accept that her work is better. What do I do? Sora Hrm, that is a toughy. It sounds like your friend has self confidence problems. Whether or not you draw, that friend of yours has to believe in themselves otherwise nothing you do will ever make them understand that it isn't a competition! You're not intentionally trying to make her feel upset... your friend has to come to terms with herself and her own skills. Sora I guess you might have have to just stop showing her your works until she grows more comfortable with hers... or maybe start drawing with her and try to trade and swap techniques or ideas. Maybe you could even do a collaboration artwork with her... you know, you let her draw it and you color it or something. Sora Ultimately, I guess it's kinda mean to say that it's her problem, but it kinda is. But being a good friend, I'm glad you want to try and help her... except, sometimes it's hard to help someone when it seems like you are their problem, right? You should just find some time to sit down with her and ask her why she feels that way... and let her know that it hurts you when she gets jealous and upset and it really isn't fair to you. If she really is a friend, she should put effort into controlling her own feelings and stop dumping on you just because you draw. She should try to support you as much as you support her. Riku Right!
