As for chewing on wires, well that's a habit that, thankfully other people have dealt with before. Go to any pet store and they should be able to hook you up with a spray you can use on things you don't want your cat nibbling on. Its harmless, just tastes very bad, or is some sort of pepper-concoction. They get the hint real quick. Although, you may want to get something at the same store that you would rather have the cat to gnaw on. When you see kitty going for the wires, distract him and get him the chew-toy instead.
