Tifa Lockhart Those black things are presumably creatures and soldiers infused with Jenova cells that are under the control of "The world is my puppet" Sephiroth. Cloud is a friend of mine from my childhood who decided to ship out to the city to enlist in Shinra military. He wanted to become a SOLDIER, but didn't quite make it through. One day, Sephiroth and Zachary, a SOLDIER 1st Class, decided to visit the Mako Reactor in my hometown, and Cloud came along. When Sephiroth tried to kill us all, and Zach was badly injured, Cloud stopped him, but was injured himself. Professor Hojo then captured Zach and Cloud and did Jenova tests on them both. Zach died, and Cloud lived, but with some of Zach's memories. And no, most of Cloud's memories are valid towards the end. At the beginning, they were merged with Zach's memories. Any more questions?
