Attention Guests:

I assumed that you, like many that came before you, skipped the rules of the forum when you signed up. Let me give you this opportunity to state a few ground rules.

You are welcome to join Nekobox. However, since this forum is not restricted in age, your name, profile, and posts must be appropriate. If the moderators and admin find someone whose posts are inappropriate, you will be warned, then banned on your next offense. If your username is found to be profane, or any portion of your profile found to be profane or flamer-esque in nature, you will be banned.

You are welcome to create ONE user account. Any more user accounts than that will be banned and deleted.

If you attempt to evade ban by any means, you will be IP banned from Nekobox. You have the opportunity to contest a ban with an administrator. However, any action outside of this will result and site ban.

Flame someone else's board. We don't welcome it here.

» Quality of a Post and Account Management «

Heyo Everyone!

It's been a while since our last edition of Administrator announcements, so I thought I'd drop a message to everyone. ^.~

One thing I wanted to bring to everyone's attention is the quality of posting. Now, we aren't trying to be grammar teachers here at Nekobox, and we do realize that we have a wide age range whom interact with our forums, but at the same time some of the posts lately have been really difficult, sometimes impossible to read.

I think that out of respect to our fellow forumgoers that we really need to try our best to make our posts readable. Besides, it's hard to reply to a post if you can't read it, right? So if you guys could do a little bit of spell checking before you submit your post, it would be really great.

Also, we've noticed a lot of people whom have multiple accounts. Please do not create more than one account for yourself. If there is an issue with your account where you cannot log in, please notify an administrator as soon as possible. Our email addresses are available on http://www.nekobox.org, and we will work to rectify the situation.

I hope you guys keep safe this holiday season and have lots of fun! Please keep warm and don't get sick!

» Ranks, Custom Avatars, Custom Titles «

We never needed codified rules or FAQs for this board, but apparently, the situation has changed. A FAQ is in the process of being created, but in the meantime, this announcement hopes to answer a couple reoccuring issues.

Regarding rank:
(1) Rank does NOT matter on this board! It does not represent power, veterancy, nor authority--unless the member is a moderator or an admin.
(2) Getting to the maximum level of ikonboard rank on this board will get you... NOTHING!
(3) Posting meaningless posts for the purpose of raising you through the ranks is unacceptible and will result the the following *possible* measures (one or more may be skipped):
(i) a public warning to desist
(ii) a private warning to desist
(iii) reduction of total post count to "demote" you
(iv) deletion of posts
(v) mucking of posts by admins for the purpose of making you look even more like an idiot. ^_~
(vi) getting banned
(3) According to the Ikonboard implementation, the number of posts will elevate you through the ranks, but due to recent abuse, I am in the process of taking measures to nullify any possible benefits some people may expect to see. In effect,
(i) The post count displayed on each post will be removed
(ii) The "rank" image will now be randomly set periodically. It will be meaningless, yet fun. (I'm hoping this will encourage a wide variety of activity.)
(iii) However, titles will remain.

On custom avatars and custom titles.
(1) Rank is not related to this in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER. (Please see above: Rank does NOT matter!)
(2) The more you ask, the less chance of ever getting them. I, nor the other staff on this board do not appreciate harassment.
(3) If you do receive an offer, it is out of the graciousness of the admins on this board; which means that you have demonstrated to the board, its members, and its admins that you can be trusted and you are likable. Do not ask to define what is meant by this; however, usually this requires meeting one of us in person AND WE LIKE YOU.
(4) Also if you do receive an offer, it will most likely only be offered once and for a one-time change. You may be creative, but anything outside the bounds of what's reasonable or appropriate (ie harsh profanity or vulgarity) most likely will not be considered.
(5) Our decisions are arbitrary, so they are rarely consistent and may not be "fair". Do NOT harass members who have received this special priviledge. You may ask them once what they did--and they are free to answer or not--but do not harass. If I hear any complaints of harassment from these members, you can consider yourself to receive the equivalent of a (2) above.
(6) The best advice is to not worry about it, and be decisive and grateful when you do receive an offer. Oh, and (5) below regarding avatar selection will probably be applicable here, as well (ie no Dragonball * avatars). ^_~

Regarding suggestions for new general use avatars.
(1) Suggestions for series and characters are welcome; however, results vary widely on my availability and interest. For best results, provide a link to a source site which contains clear images of the characters. However, see (4) below.
(2) I like to create the avatar images myself for high quality; however, if you insist on offering, see (3) below.
(3) If attempting to submit, please request and await a positive response before submitting. Please do not submit more than 3 avatar images. This may be flexible, but I will not consider large batches (greater than 5). You must also name and identify each character by name, from what series or game, and the media or URL source of the image. Larger, editable images are preferred over precut or presized offers (please see (2)).
(4) I will not accept avatar images from other boards or sources if they do not approve public domain usage.
(5) General guidelines for series suggestions: must be from anime or anime-type game, the cuter the better, absolutely nothing from the Dragonball francise.

(Notice: This announcement is subject to change. All decisions are arbitrary because this is our board at our expense, and is offered as a courtesy for the readers of Nekobox. If you do not agree, please do not use this board.)

» Avatars to Burn! «

I was a bit bored, so I put together some more avatars. �38 more, exactly... putting our public grand total at 126. �Of course we only have 37 members now, but you never know. �=)

I've added characters from: Alien 9, Angelic Layer, Argent Soma, Boys Be..., and I My Me! Strawberry Eggs! �I have a feeling precious few of you've seen any of those new series, but I have! �;-) �I'm sure you'll be familiar with them by the time you hit an anime con--in a year or two!

I don't know why I didn't mention this before. �Sorry about that.

It seems like there's this bug in the board scripts such that new members who register don't always get their passwords emailed to them.

If this is the case for you, email me, and I'll send you your password. �Upon successful login, you should then check your profile to see if you entered your email address correctly--just to eliminate that possibility.

At a whopping 75 total (not including the non-image), we've finally got more avatar images added to the forum! And you know what? They're bigger and more colorful!

Thanks to Young-sama (a.k.a. MerleKitty) for such an amazing feat on top of his usual work!

So go choose one of those nice avatars in place of the pixellated oldies now!

So after incessant badgering by you folks (just kidding!), we've finally got our own forum! It's a little bit rough on the edges, but it should work for now. We'll be improving it as time goes on, and Young should have more avatar images available, so keep checking!

Any questions or comments about this website can be directed to the bottom-most forum for the admins to see.

In the meantime, please be nice!
